Turkey trivia for today:

How fast can a wild turkey fly? And no it has nothing to do with riding on the windshield of a big rig. LOL

The Duke Of Earl. said...

They don't fly.

BRS, you are a mess, talking about cat boogers on the camera lens yesterday and now to use that picture to blame TK.

Reminds me of a boy in my grade school class, who later became a doctor, by the way, who always ruined my dinner by saying the lemon sauce on the cake was "snot" sauce. It was just the right color. Horrible! I coulnd't eat a bite of that good cake.

DOE - turkeys can definitely fly, up to 55 MPH. We have some around my house and they make a thumpa-thumpa noise when they are flying. It is very loud. It's actually scary & amazing to see them in flight. They make a running take off since they probably can not lift off the ground from a dead stop.

How's this answer UAL?

Absolutely correct Tom! Wild turkeys do fly and they can go up to 55 mph.

Just saw the video on Carthage Mo. cave # 9. Absolutely scary! Don't know how you found your way around; I did see two arrows, guess you saw more than that, but it was like a maze. Was your speed about 2 mph? Did the cave have an exit or did you have to go all the way back to your entry point? I wonder how many trucks they allow in the cave at one time. Seems there could be a real problem with congestion if many were there at once.
I always think of an earthquake when I'm in a cave. Not a good feeling. I know you were glad to get out of there. How long did you spend underground? Hope you don' thave to go back there. Thanks so much for the video! Truly an experience even by video.

Even TK knows turkey's fly. The one that hit their windshield wasn't launched with a catapult by some naughtly little boys playing. Peacocks fly, too. (don't know how much), but I know they fly up onto low tree branches where they sleep. Our chickens all flew until we pulled the longest 2 feathers from their wings.

Another (slightly tricky) trivia question:

Which two Presidents collaborated to establish the first Thanksgivng?
"A National Day of prayer & giving of thanks devoted to the service of that great and glorious being.....that we may all united in rendering unto Him our sincere & humble thanks" ?

Tom, I didn't know the answer so I made one up.
Wisconsin has a lot of wild Turkeys. But I don't know a thing about them. I don't hunt or have a gun.

Thanksgiving Song:

This is a short blessing song that even the smallest child can join in.
"God Our Father"
Sing it to the tune of "Frere Jacques"

God Our Father, God Our Father
Once again, once again,
Thank you for our blessings,
Thank you for our blessings,
Amen, amen.

I've been walking down my street & have seen them when they hae "took off". It's a scary sight. They are not the smartest animals either. They have been known to attack passing cars in my neighborhood.

And passing big rigs!!!! Just ask BRS!
