Ok, stopped t0 check our weight, I already know we will be very heavy! Let's just hope we are legal.
TK and I both have horrible headaches, leaking eyeballs, and sinus problems today we really are twins. LOL
Ok, let's get our weight ticket, and see what we weigh!

Poor TK! Sorry BRS you're not feeling the greatest today but to us you are the GREATEST!
Hope we're legal! Don't want you trimming fur to lighten the load!
Hush now Vicky - don't give BRS any ideas!
Ok ... here's another question ... if a driver weighs the truck and trailer and it's over weight ... then what? Do you just keep on driving, have to get an over weight permit, ????
My wips are sealed ualady! Mummms the word!
ok, we weigh a total of: 79,620. That is legal. All our axel weights are good as well!
The question about if we get overloaded by a shipper......we go back and make them take some off. If a driver fails to check his weight and drives away without checking it....then the driver is running illegal, and WILL be fined $$$ if caught and pulled into a state weigh station. I did that ONCE...I was 1650 pounds over on one axel, and it cost me $165.00.
axle is how ya spll it. LOL Geewhiz. It is my headache's fault. Really, I can spell. Honest Injun!
Oh BRS we knew what ya meant! Hope you took something for that headache!
I feel for you BRS and Miss TK..
yea, I did. I took some cat fur out of the truck!!!
(Big Texas Evil Grin)
with TK you weigh a lot!
LOL @ BRS
he...he...the more you guys try to correct your spelling errors, the funnier it is.....don't worry, we can figure it out!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Steve and TK,
That is a lot of weight, I hope yo had you fuel tanks full.lol
Ok ... let's try my question from a few days ago again ... how come we don't see many state troopers out there? are they camera shy?
Be careful of snow and ice that can put a 1,000# on real quick.
What did you do before driving?
Tk did a good job putting the right load on the trailer. Do you ever haul fresh or always frozen?
I haul all sorts of stuff. dry, chilled and frozen
I see plenty of state troppers. Most have the lights hidden, not on top like the old days...
Mother Nature threatened to take adverse action if I did not stop and take care of business. Might as well catch up on paperwork while I am here.
Wheels roll again in 15 minutes!
Good morning, Road Crew!! I'm late getting on this morning. Slept in; I've got the headache, too! Must be the weather.
We are to get 3-6 inches of snow tonight. I thought we were done with Old Man Winter.
Steve, take care today, driving with that headache. Hope you have some sinus med you can take.
Good Afternoon Steve and TK, been watching the site for about two weeks, just wanted to comment on the weight thing from earlier today. i to am a driver, although I do mostly local, and multiaxle dump truck. way back when I was young and dumb, I took what was told to me as a "legal" load to the great state of Michigan, doing a round robin we dumped and reloaded using the "michigan bridge law" so my truck was supposedly legal t 78,000 lbs. My load grossed out at 77,000 lbs. so took it and ran to the ohio border, well, I didn't quite make it, the officer looked me over and frowned heavily, well, long story short, he measured me, and my lift axles were 1 inch short of the required bridge of nine feet. putting me back to a "tandem" hence legal load weight of 48,000 lbs. well, I was free to go, but my truck was imponded and was going no where til this fine was paid, and being from Ohio, I was woorking for a out of state company it had to be done today, want to do the math on this? here is some help, 31,000 lbs gross overload in the state of Michigan equals a fine of almost $2,000 think my boss was a happy man that day? God Speed, Drive Safe, and give TK a good scratch when ya can
Steve,
"Tylenol Sinus" caplets are the only thing that ever stopped my sinus headaches and does so in about 20 minutes. Take Two of them.
R
Wow Rusty ... that was a hefty fine!
BRS - looks like clear sailing all the way to Atlanta.
ualady,
yes ma'am it was. and My boss was really impressed with me, specially since he had to bring the money up to michigan to bail his truck out.. have to say, that was a very long day. I was just very thankful that it was not my fault, but a manufacturer's defect in the spacing.
Guess the manufacturer didn't pony up the fine money, Rusty.
oh no, they passed the buck back to me. saying it was the timing on when I set the axles down, had I done it and they were fully (air operated) charged, then the spacing would have been correct, rather then putting the axles down after I had been loaded. (lots of variables there, like ice mud etc.)
so boss paid the fine, and didn't speak to me for some time after. lol, was quite peaceful I may add.
LOL sometimes it is rather peaceful if the boss isn't speaking to you.
what state are you in Rusty?
Hi Steve and TK
I like the scenery with all the tall trees along the road. Do you get surprised by animals like deer etc running on the road ahead of you, The roads like that in Nnova Scotia Canada will usually get your heart beat up every once in a while.
Lyall in Nova Scotia Canada
ualady,
I'm in NW Ohio, about 20 miles south of Toledo. you?
way down in Dixie ... Alabama
Beautiful blue skies where Steve is; we're having sleet now. :(
Howdy SAHmom!
Wonder how BRS keeps from getting hypnotized by the white lines?
Steve, try using Hypo Tears 1oz. is $16.00 any big drug store will have them. I have the same problem and my Optamoligist said to use them every day as it helps lubricate the eyes and stops the water coming down to wet the eye. I stopped using any pills they didn't help only sleep helped.
Is the yellow pin on your map hooked up to a GPS on your computer? We always know were you're at. GB, Earl.
overcast and 50 heere in NW Ohio, rain coming after 6pm EST.
partly sunny and 70's here in Alabama
Steve, sorry bout you not feeling well.
This drive looks beautiful with the lush greens and blue skies.
Have a safe drive and hi to the road crew!
Good gosh!! I-20 will make confetti outta your kidneys!!
LOL just wait til we hit mississippi
Hark Gen. Pemberton! The BRT approaches Vicksburg!!
As BRS and TK head towards Jackson, Ms., here's a little remembered fact in history: General Sherman burned Jackson in 1863 - then he did his famous march through Georgia burning everything in his troops path on his way to South Carolina in 1864.
TY ualady, enjoy the history lessons from you and other road crew members.
Everyone here is full of usefull info.
Like where we are, weather, etc.
i hear ya rusty im always worried about getting weighed on our trucks, the older cops on the scales will pick one way to weigh ans if you pass your good to go, the young ones will weigh you for gross weight and if you pass will re weigh you axle by axleif your leagle there they pull out the bridge formula and start measuring the truck, not too much of a problem since all of us are from the old days and talk on the cb constantly we know within 20 minutes of when they set up and we also know the ranch roads ect so we can 'use other routes' for the day, i got caught in a roadside inspection 4 days ago and the cop commented, "you know your the first dump rig ive seen in the last hour, i wonder where they are" told him i couldnt imagine, lol
Good Evening Taco! I feel for BRS and TK riding I-20 in Mississippi. Because of the type of soil they have the roads are like riding on waves. Last time I drove to Jackson, I felt tossed up and down.
anon,
here in the buckeye, they chase us in droves.. lots of times there will be two or three chase cars, and a couple of vans. Troopers will hide anywhere and then pop up grab one or two and slip away again. pretty good system they use...lol, if your in their shoes
Yikes, that would be tiring ualady.
Not to mention what it would do to my bladder.
Thanks to an earlier comment, this has been running thru my head all afternoon. Enjoy

He was a very talented songwriter and a superb guitar player as well. Seemed like a nice, fun guy too. I am sorry he is gone.

Welcome Rusty to the road crew. I thought maybe you would enjoy this site.
Hello road crew hope all is well with everyone today?
Sure hope BRS and TK are feeling better. At least they have beautiful sunshine right now.
Wow all that green. It is beautiful, can't wait for ours to get that green.
Now as BRS heads towards Meridan, another little remembered fact ... General Sherman burned the railroads amongst other things there in early 1864.
What a beautiful trip we are on now!
Hi Vicky ... Yup ... beautiful part of the country.
Don't forget to order your "official road crew shirts!"
BRS did a fabulous job on the design. So glad TK and he signed them.
I thought so too. I can hardly wait to get them.
Hi Peggy!
Fin - thanks for the link to Eastbound and Down with Jerry Reed. Made me smile... I forwarded it to my son who just bought a Dodge Challenger (muscle car) - retro is in now. THX!
I-20 is a beautiful drive all the way to Atlanta. Though I would recommend to BRS to bypass Birmingham using I-459. Would be a bit shorter and much prettier.
Pick up I-20 on the east side of Birmingham.
ualady, I forgot to tell you... Peggy and I are family...lol,
thanks sis..yup, have been watching for the last couple of weeks, but until the weight thing showed up, I had nothing much to say...lol
Good evening ualady.
That looks to be a beautiful drive. Thank goodness the weather is better for Steve.
Cool ... but i thought Peggy was down south
Nope I am in NW Ohio too. We are neighbors with Vicky.
I can't beleive you didn't have much to say. lol You always have plenty to say. :)
We're all one big happy family on this road trip! I practiced what I preached and ordered shirts!!!!
That makes two of us Vicky!
Good girl!!! We have ours order too.
How far do you think we are going today?
Maybe BRS will feel much better when he see all the shirt orders today! And he's worrying no one wanted a shirt! LOL
I hope BRS doesn't try to make Birmingham. After he reaches Meridan, he will be 3 hours out from Birmingham.
Tuscaloosa has a fairly nice truck stop.
Are we getting close on hours?
rusty can answer that better than any of us. but BRS may have a couple of more running hours today. forgot what time he picked up.
I'm back. Took daughter for a short shopping trip into town; on the way back, freezing rain/snow/sleet. Such fun. Cars in the ditch and everyone crawling along the interstate.
Then I get on here and see the beautiful weather where Steve is! So green! It looks nice. But it looks like a rather bumpy road.
He was still at the truck stop when we left this morning. So I didn't know how much time he had. We are starting to get the rain now and very windy.
I think in the end of the time limit, he will be surprised at how many shirts have been ordered.
Yes SAHmom .. the weather is almost perfect down here. is a bit windy as the cold front moves in from the west. mississippi is famous for it's wavy interstate because of the type of soil they have.
Ya'll better ask BRS stuff instead of Rusty. It's BRS' blog. Two men, two opinions. Ya'll know that!
I'm not sure what time they went on duty this morn, but looking at the posting on the blog, I think we have a couple of hours of time left yet for today. typically the rules are 60 hours in 6 days, or 70 hours in 7 days.. but there is variables in that also.. like on duty not driving, or like in my case being a "intrastate driver", I'm not federally regulated to those rules, but my company really frowns if we go over the magic 70 hours.
and yes, your right, it's Steve's blog and he know's the federal rules better then I do, I can only tell you from my perspective as a intrastate driver.
Thanks Rusty ... now I remember BRS saying something about the 70 hour rule.
Easy parking this time. No backing up!
