An answer to a question about showers.
Everytime I get 50 gallons or more of fuel at 99% of the places, I get a free shower. They are private, individual rooms with shower, electrical plugs, mirrors, etc. Just like a hotel bathroom. They provide towels in most cases.
In the event you have to stop at a truckstop that you do not have a free shower credit on your frequent fueler card, then costs can be anywhere from $8-10. Still not bad.

A few questions for you, BRS.Have you ever made a delivery to Alaska and do you go on vacation? If so, do you turn the cam off or do you take it with you?
Never been to Alaska.
I take a few days off here and there. I usually shut the cam down so I can use the laptop outside the truck. LOL
I have a REAL vacation planned for Memorial Day Weekend....:)
Thats the good ol south treating you well. When ever I delivered down there they were happy to see me come and happy to see me go. Try that in Chicago, Detroit or any where north of the mason dixon line and all they give you is a hard time. It's too bad that every place you go can't be nice.
I remember the free shower with a fill up when hubby and I were OTR but I don't remember showers costing so much but we have not been OTR in years.. Do you have a microwave or other way to heat food?? Drive safe and give your co-pilot a belly rub from me.. Shady from Washington.
nope, no microwave. I eat at the truckstops buffet or nearby restraunts. and in case nothing is around, we fight over TK's food. :) (GRIN)
Good lands we can't have you fighting TK for her food!!! You need one of those compact microwaves boy! I for one think nice shower facilities FREE are in order! Guess I'm living in an unrealistic fog thinking that!
Can I donate a new microwave? In the address I'll use "in care of TK"!
Is there a certain restaurant chain that you watch for and prefer over others for a good home cooking type meal around the truck stops?
not really. LOL. It all depends on where I am, and what is available. It is a true experience at every turn! LOL
I'm certainly going to check at our truck stop in Oakwood IL and see how they are doing with showers and free coffee and just what all they offer! Someone needs to be looking out for you truckers and I'm taking that on for my truck stop!

Thanks for the eye-opener. And to think that many Americans think there is no discrimination around these days! Why is nobody championing the right of truckers to use restrooms, use a vending machine, or eat in any cafe they want?? HUH, AMERICA?!
Steve is gracious to all, as he proved in his handling of that ruckus yesterday. He didn't even ban the "bad apples" as others called them, nor did he call them names.
