Remember that photo of the sign at the Springfield, IL truckstop that said NO PARKING at the truckstop that I posted about a few days ago? Well someone did some further research and found an actual study on truck parking (and the lack thereof)! Interesting that even though the study did in fact find a shortage of available truck parking in the county....that Springfield placed that sign anyways!
Here is a link to the report:
Illinois report on Truck Parking Availability

I read some of the report since I was up at 2-30 am and not ready to go back to bed yet. LOL. I see it was done back around 2008. Lots of numbers. I know we all say we have too much government but how would we obtain info like this with out government at our own taxpayers dollars paying for it. (Chuckle.) Someone has to pay for it. A couple of things caught my attention was they recommended to stop closing rest areas. I travel some and have never see a rest area disappear. I think we need more of them. The other thing was they said some drivers put foil in domes to block the signal from their companies to shut their trucks down after 11 hours. I had no idea a company could shut it truck down that way or would. What if the driver is still on the highway?
Anyway time for me to go back to bed. Steve enjoy your time off. I looked at your GPS. Do you have it in your pocket?
