Since we started with Veetle, I have been getting tons of emails, especially after yesterday and we had to shutdown short of our delivery. Blogger is not letting me make a comment, so I decided to answer a bunch of emails at the sametime through this post. :)
We came up short because we ran into our 11 AND 14 hour rules. That means STOP. I am also tied by an electronic ball and chain called electronic logging. Driving illegal and past my hours gets me in serious trouble with my safety department as well as the Department of Transportation. Any accident that would occur while I was driving illegal automatically becomes my fault no matter what, based upon the fact that if I was legal, I "would not have been there". Yup, serious, that is the way the law works for truckers.
Just 100 miles? Well, that would have been an additional 2.5 hour trip! Why? 62 mile an hour truck, Atlanta traffic, two accidents were active along the way to delivery, so real travel time to delivery was still 2.5 hours away.
Hope that explains some of the emailed and comment questions about yesterday:) I don't drive illegal for anybody, at anytime. It is not worth the serious trouble it could create.
