Ok, more questions asked....

We have numerous trailers that we drop and hook at certain shippers.

Why? It is much easier (as today for example) to go to a shipper with an empty trailer, drop that one, and then drive out with a loaded trailer. With a supply of trailers going in and out, then the shipper can load them on their schedule. It is alot easier on the drivers as well since I do not have to sit and wait for them to do their thing. I can get in and get back out. We the drivers are responsible for maintaining the trailers. That is, we check tires, lights, etc everytime we pick up a new one. Any problems, we can then take it to a service truckstop to get fixed.

As in this load I have right now, I will drop it at the receiver, and then pull out an empty trailer. That wayt, I do not hgave to sit and get unloaded. If I had my way, EVERY place would be that easy!

When you are setting and waiting your turn to back up and get loaded, How does the company let you know that it is your turn to back up and get loaded?

Good evening Steve, and bloggers.

First Steve you say you don't like lasagna, now you don't like frog legs? I don't know man. Maybe you just had them wrong.

different companies do things different. Some use CBs to tell youy when they are ready. Others tell you right when you check in at the gate. The gate guard will tell me how they do things, where to park, and what to do next.

Tks Steve, I was wondering who owned all these trailers and you answered before I could ask.
You need to ba able to trust your equipment, so good to know that you check it.
I fixed frog legs for my hubby one time. He loves them.
Wierdest thing I made for family was octopus. I really did not know what I was doing. Gave up on that one!

I see. What if you fall asleep while you are waiting? Do they come knock on your door?

BigRigSteve said...

LOL, hey at least I TRIED them. They were not bad, just tasted stringy. LOL

BigRigSteve said...

LOL, never tried Octo either. But I did try seaweed once. Actually scared me (little kid then) because even though cooked, the seaweed "grabbed" my tongue! You could actually feel it shrink on my tongue!!!

BigRigSteve said...

If I fall asleep? Well. depends. LOL. Some places will come knock on your door when they are ready. Others tell you they call you once on the CB. If you do not answer, or go to your door, then they pass over you. LOL.

pboutwell said...

You tried.

That's what I tell my 15 yr old picky daughter, just try it once, if you don't like it then no more. Now I don't know if I could try that octopus!

feeling it shrink on your tongue, makes me wonder if that is what the little japanese candies are wrapped in. It seems to shrink and melt away.

I had a feeling that Texas Lady has that artistic quality in her. Some of the video's of TK in a "private home" show some really awesome murals and paintings around the home. Are those some of the works of Texas Lady????

BigRigSteve said...

yup, a TK on the reefer.....

ualady said...

does that hook into the tractor too so that you don't have to idle to have heating/cooling on a layover?

ualady said...

or are you into IdleAire or some such as that?

BigRigSteve said...

no. the TK unit is just to run the freezer on the trailer.

85% of the time, I have the winbdows open anyways. screens in:) and in the winter, we have an emergency heater that runs on 1 gallon of fuel for every 20 hours of heating.

never would guess that the tk salesman came by today ... would you?

talked to a driver that got laid off last week when his company lost the contract for hauling automobile parts. he went out and bought a 2008 KW. Already leased it to a company.

the american antique truck show is the last weekend in May in Huntsville, AL. Saw the poster for that today. Looks like it would be fun to go to.

I just checked the map and see you are around the Sikeston, MO area... if you are in the area around lunch or dinner you should stop at Lambert's Cafe... awesome food. (These is also one around the Springfield, MO area as well.)

Good Morning everyone. While you have your coffee & wait for the driver to roll out of his bunk, why not have your "Daily Bread" ? Open a corner window to www.rbc.org They have beautiful little short devotionals by the day. This bread is good stuff! The LORD bless the crew today! --Sandy
