As Vicky would say...if you don't tell you won't get! Main course you prefer?

I, for one, am tremendously impressed with what you do...have to do...have to know....have to put up with...to be able to do your job. We all owe you much respect and much thanks for your dedication to your job. Thank you, Steve, and thanks to all your fellow truckers for keeping our lives running smoothly.

Yer welcome Jayelle!:)

well, not a picky eater. I will eat anything. But, I really don't care for raw fish, or lazagna. lol. See, I even hate to spell it out! (grin)

ualady said...

Is there ever times where you can ask for a different load, if you don't like the next load that your company gives you?

ualady said...

Now that's a humdinger of a sunset! Well out of here for a few...got to go meet a new kid.

BigRigSteve said...

Yes and no. If you are a good driver, never late, take care of the company, then they might be able to search out a different load for you. But then, sometimes, there might not be another driver in the area when that load needs to be taken, and then you don't have a choice. I take any and all trips they give me so that when I do NEED something special or changed, then they have zero problem taking care of me since I take care of them. The drivers that complain about every trip, and are afraid of the BIG cities usually do not last long in trucking at all.

How about time off. If you are needing a certain "few days" off for some reason (like a family thing), is your company good about working with you?

Anonymous said...

Steve,I love the captions you come up with for the pictures of TK. Too funny!

BigRigSteve said...

I do not come up with those. I get them from TK favorite website.

Icanhascheezburger.com

BigRigSteve said...

yup. we get 5 days off a month. All I have to do is give 9 days notice, and what city I want to be in. I just drive until I get tired and then usually take 5 or 6 days off. This Memorial Day week coming up will be the first real vacation I have taken in many many years! :)

Anonymous said...

Thanks BRS that was very informative. We are learning more everyday of a truckers life.

I agree you do a great job of doing your job and keeping us all informed.

Peggy said...

Does TK go with you on vacation?

Anonymous said...

I just found out that it isn't Steve making captions on pictures of TK. I need to take a real good look at TK's face, I thought I knew her face but I guess I don't.

Anonymous said...

Wow! Then it's about time for you. I hope you enjoy it. :)

What about sudden emergencies? If you are traveling with a load and you have a family emergency. How do they help you get to where you need to be?

Peggy said...

Wow looks like the parking lot is filling up fast. Good thing you got your spot early.

BigRigSteve said...

Well, hopefully, I never have to find out. I know they will do what it takes to get the driver home.

No, those are not of TK. Those are just from TK's favorite website!

I am happy to share with you the life of a trucker:)

Yes, TK goes with me wherever I go. We are buddies!!! :)

She does not know it yet, but I have some friends that will be watching out for her while I am on this upcoming vacation. This will be the first time we will have ever been seperated!

Peggy said...

oh my better not tell her until the last minute or you will not have any rulers to use at all.

Peggy said...

Did the parking lot become grand central station all of a sudden?

BigRigSteve said...

lol. when the sun starts to go down, yes, the trucks pull off the road. There are some drivers that refuse to drive at night. We call those "Solar Powered Trucks"

Peggy said...

lol that was good! Never heard of them kind.

Anonymous said...

Do you guys regularly come out of your trucks and socialize with one another at the truck stops at night? (Visit, a game of cards, etc.)

pboutwell said...

solar powered...LOL. that's great stuff.

BigRigSteve said...

Some do, especially on a sunny weekend. I pretty much stay to myself, or am busy taking photographs! LOL

Anonymous said...

I looked at TK's face again and I still think that picture looks like TK. Steve, what you think?

ualady said...

Ok...the cats have got their spots in my lap and ready for some TK videos.

I've learned not to play the one that it looks like she is coming after them. Scratch me once jumping off my lap I learn.

BigRigSteve said...

LOL, You have a whimpy cat Ualady? LOL

Sure, Hammond - anything image of any cat that looks like it is spoiled rotten is just like TK. LOL

BigRigSteve said...

Oh buddy! I need a secretary! I can't keep up with the emails! LOL.

I love getting emails, and hearing how this site has made a difference in people's lives. Just hope they all understand it takes me awhile to get through them all. LOL. I don't give a "canned" response. I answer each one personally, one at a time. :)

ualady said...

No BRS they aren't wimpy...just old! One is 23 and the other 22. TK could handle both of them quite easily.

BigRigSteve said...

Make sure you tell your students Howdy from BRS and TK. Also, how is Lisa (?) doing? The one that asked me the question...so very sorry if that is not her name. :(

ualady said...

Lisa will be thrilled that you remembered her name. Spent extra time with her last night and she's really doing great in geometry. Of course boyfriend problems are becoming an issue.

Got a new boy tonight from your old stomping grounds down here. I got my crying out of the way so now we can start to work next week. I'll be introducing TK and you to him. So maybe that will be an avenue to break through his shell.

ualady said...

Oh forgot...Lisa did tell me tonight to say hello to you. The first question out of her mouth is where is that nice man tonight. Yea!! We're making progress!!

BigRigSteve said...

EXCELLENT!!! :)

What ya got across from you a hog hauler? It's amazing what 3 or 4 hours will do for you. Did they unload you that fast or did you switch trailers? Early to bed tonight early load tomorrow. As soon as you're available.

Anonymous said...

Enjoyed watching your latest high speed videos. Looks like that road in AZ needs some new surface, a lot of repairs. Maybe some of that stimulus money? Take care.

BigRigSteve said...

Yup, DOE-

It is a bull hauler! Good eyes ya have:) It took 9.5 hours to load me, and only 45 min to unload me. LOL Go figure!

ualady said...

Maybe they pay the folks in KY more to get the job done faster?

ualady said...

what's the difference between a cattle hauler and a bull hauler?

BigRigSteve said...

no difference at all. On the CB, I call them "Cattle Cages"

Well, some folks can get the job done quickly others could not get their stuff together if they HAD to I think. BUT, in their defense, chicken places and meat procesing places usually load the product AS THEY PROCESS .... so maybe they had a few chickens fighting not to get into the "magic" box. LOL

ualady said...

BRS - I know why it takes you so long to do your email! Sent it to you.

ualady said...

I refuse to drive behind one of those cattle trucks! Didn't take long to teach me that!

BigRigSteve said...

try parking by one or two and trying to sleep. LOL

ualady said...

LOL I was just thinking that. It's not hard to figure out that one of them stopped to fuel up. You hear them just a sec before you smell them!

BigRigSteve said...

Well, when I have to pick up at a meat processing plant like in Dodge City, Kansas, and I stay the night at the truckstop, there are ALOT of cattle cages. They bring the cows, we take out steaks and burgers.

Yup, that is exactly why it takes me several days to answer enails! :)

ualady said...

Some folks took me to the cattle yard near Chicago to eat. Thought they were nuts but there was a nice restaurant. Couldn't eat a bite though. Every time the fork touched my lips, a cow mooed!

ualady said...

Thought that might get a smile.

pboutwell said...

sounds like the old saying...everybody loves sausage, until they see how it's made!

BigRigSteve said...

did ya get yer email Mr Pboutwell?

Peggy said...

This is really a busy place. It must be very large.

pboutwell said...

have not ckecked yet tonight BRS. I will in a minute. I've been multitasking(man I hate that phrase). Been busy off and on, that's a better way to put it.

ualady said...

For the life of me I can't see any lines that divide the parking spaces.

Anonymous said...

BRS, TY for you TY and I understand why it takes you awhile.
Sounds like everyone is keeping you entertained tonight.
Got to fix dinner now. Will check in later. My hubby likes to eat late dinner. From all those yrs working graveyard, eating his dinner and going right to bed. Can't keep him awake after he eats!
Bye, all, for now.

BigRigSteve said...

Well, the street light is off to the side, so they are hiding in the shadows! (the painted lines)

This is a medium place. You see alot of traffic because there are not many truckstops along this highway. I think next closest one is in Lexington. Plus, trucks are rolling past because all the parking is already taken! :)

Ok, I am tired. I have had all I can stand for tonight. TK has been in my lap looking at me with snuggle in her eyes:)

Gotta get to bed. Good to talk to all of you! Take care of each other! TK's orders!

pboutwell said...

Well, got it this time Steve, and TK. The checks in the mail. Thanks for the time you spend on here and on the emails. You are a good guy.

ualady said...

Night BRS. Sweet cat dreams TK!

BigRigSteve said...

Yer Welcome, and THANKS! :)

Peggy said...

Night BRS and TK. Both of you have a great night sleep. Snugle her tight.

Just Vicky said...
