The Blog. Never having felt the need for a blog (or to tell the whole world my thoughts), this is actually a pretty neat thing. One of the things I really like about it is being able to tell a group of people all the same thing, at the same time. Maybe it will slow down the amount of emails I have to answer everyday. LOL
The other thing that is important to me, and is a perfect use of this blog, is to get feedback from my viewers. And you fine folks sure do that with no problem! When I mentioned "chatroom" in a post this morning, I got a lot of comments and emails about it. I already had a good idea of what I wanted to do (or not do) but feedback is important. Come to find out, you guys just confirmed what I was thinking all along. Allow me to jump up on the soapbox.......
BigRigTravels is a unique website. It lets people from around the globe watch an American trucker navigate the highways and biways of America. It has plenty of features and media types. I am not aware of any other trucker website that is as comprehensive in showing the day to day life of a trucker as this one is. And certainly I have never come across ANY website that has nearly 10,000 images of just about everything and everyplace a trucker can come across or visit.
BigRigTravels offers plenty of viewer-interaction in its current format. There are literally hundreds of thousands of websites that offer chatrooms or other social networking features. Concerned with keeping the solid "family friendly" integrity of BigRigSteve and his website, BRT will not offer a chat room, but rather you can post in the comments just as you have been doing.

Kudos to BRS!!!!! I approve of your soapbox stand! Keep the integrity you have given to your website! IT'S THE RIGHT THING YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
As you exited right...I burst out laughing...just imagining you saying..."And away we go!"
Ok ok...I realize you're not old enough to remember Jackie Gleason.
ha ha, Steve, you are funny, & clever, & a good guy, & "right on"!
I hope you heard the applause for that speech as you exited....
If, I say IF, you were to try not approving comments here for a short while, you might find that the comments section would turn into a defacto chatroom.
Frankly this is such a quality site that I was surprised and saddened to read that you had gotten inappropriate comments on your guestbook, and I suppose thst is the motivation for approving them here.
IN any event, tomorrow you will go thru Lucedale where friends may be waving at you as you pass.
Happy Trails

Amen, Steve. I think it's a real good decision. By the way, just noticed your photos from Cibolo & Bracken. PLEASE tell me you've eaten at Bracken Store and Harmon's BBQ!!!!

You can't monitor things TOO MUCH. I am referring to Fin's possible "IF you didn't require approval". People will say & do lots of things in very poor taste much to everyone's embarrassment. It's too bad it's true, but true it is! --calfornia
Well...
I certainly didn't mean to start such a ruckus.
I feel properly *put in my place*. Thank you everyone...
If I may ask (again) Steve, The photo of the tree that is in the Alamo Plaza Gallery, do you have any idea what kind of tree that is? I'm also curious if that tree is native to Texas?
Nobody caused any ruckus. LOL.
I have gotten over 40 emails about chat since I posted it. LOL both for and against. But while I could not make up my mind before, it did start a good discussion and I came to the conclusion of what I really thought about all along. :)
Steve, this site is great the way it is, and I really do appreciate the wholesome site you have here. I don't appreciate reading others' "inappropriate" comments; I don't want to fill my head with that stuff.
This site IS unique and very interesting. I enjoy the photos, the narratives you write, and of course, the real-time travel you share with all of us. (and I enjoy reading about TK!)
I have developed a new appreciation for truckers, and I'm very thankful for what all the truckers do!
It gives those of us who are not able to travel for whatever reason, a way to experience some travel and see the country.
Thank you for what you are doing for all of us!
