rough day U?

What are rookie sticks?

I've heard it is legal to park on the ramps here in WA and have seen it.

BigRigSteve said...

not sure. LOL

Yes, some states allow it. But think about it. That is the ramp where people are picking up speed to get on, or already hit the ramp at highway speeds. What if they ain't paying attention? LOL Could get ugly in a hurry. I'd rather not get myself in that situation.

Anonymous said...

I agree, didn't look good to me either.

BigRigSteve said...

Taco, I have a bud that lives in Fife! Works at the ship terminals

Anonymous said...

Our neighbor works there too. Longshoreman. Ew are accross the bay and hear the noise when they are moving containers on and off ships. *We

I may go to Fife tonight...casino calling me. :O)

BRS - Lisa just came in. She made 100 on her geometry quiz yesterday and a 90 today. By George...I think she has the hang of it!

BigRigSteve said...

Tell her better than I ever could! Congrats to her. I never got the hang of adding letters of the alphabet to make numbers, or adding shapes to make other shapes and numbers! LOL And I have never seen a square root in real life either! They have all been ROUND and under the ground!

ualady said...

Lisa laughed.

Now her serious question: She wants to know how in the world you get all your equipment into your truck (pc, modem, camera, etc).

BigRigSteve said...

Well, tell her to check out the FAQs and she can see pics of where the laptop is, the webcams, etc. The big camera and lenses are all nicely stached in a BIG backpack hidden in the truck!

Evening Kids. everone have a good day?

BigRigSteve said...

Howdy MotorHead. (G)

getyurmotorunnin said...

LOL. comming to my town I see.

mohogan said...

Steve have you ever considered positioning the camera above and behind the passenger seat pointing so that we can see the road, and about half of you so we can see the gear shifting and such? You would just have to be careful playing with your nose. ;-)

BigRigSteve said...

FTW? yup

Anonymous said...

Taco, rookie sticks are those rods welded or bolted to the edge of the front bumpers of big trks so they know where the edge of the front bumpers are. Veteran truckers call them rookie sticks.lol I had a set on a top kick gmc once, when a trucker told me that the next day I took them off..loo

getyurmotorunnin said...

If you see a fatboy on a red harley waving at ya. ITs ME.

BigRigSteve said...

You would BARELY see any of the road at all then. Plus, with the contrast of dark inside the truck, then bright outside the windshield.....it would not be good at all. Tried that at first. and even then, you really do not see me unless you want it so that you dont see the raod ecept maybe the very far corner. Then that takes away the whole reason of the camera showing what is in front of me. LOL

ualady said...

Lisa says the inside of your truck looks like a rocket ship. She was amazed you don't have a microwave. Lisa wants to know if the inside of your truck gets to feeling crowded.

2nd question - Lisa wants to know how old TK is.

3rd question - how long have you been a truck driver?

While you think of answers...she's going to work on her American history.

getyurmotorunnin said...

Going to Home Depot, catch ya later. Does anybody need anything? LOL.

Anonymous said...

TY Leo, I have seen those.

BigRigSteve said...

TK will be 3 years old next week!

Nope, never feel crowded. I can get out and play anytime!

Been driving for 2.5 years.

Anonymous said...

Dang, I kicked the cat. Didn't know she snuck in under my desk. Don't tell TK, she'll have my hide.

mohogan said...

Steve, do you have a way of heating food in your rig if you can't get to a restaraunt? How about a fridge?

BigRigSteve said...

I had a cooler at one time, found I really did not use it, so I gave it away. Really would never use a micro eother. One way or another, I have never starved. That is why i have sandwich makings/PBJ and canned food.

ualady said...

Lisa asks: Where and when is TK's birthday party?

I told her that her next question was a bit too personal. So she decided not to ask it.

BigRigSteve said...

Birthday for truck cats? HA HA!

Grandma will probably throw one for her while i am at the dentist!

ualady said...

Ok...one more...do you have a coffee maker in your truck?

ualady said...

Lisa said that if TK is your best bud...then you should throw a party. She threw her dog a birthday party.

BigRigSteve said...

OOps. Ya ran out of questions for today. Limit of 14 per day. LOL. Just kidding with ya. :)

Actually, I had one at first as well. Used it everyday for a few weeks. Then got tired of it. Easier to just go and buy it! I do have emergency coffee singles bags that I add to water and heat up if needed. Have not opened them up yet and it has been a year. LOL

How would I heat the water? I do have a cig lighter heater. that I stick in the cup and it heats it up.

ualady said...

LOL...see what I get every night? When you listen, teenagers have a million questions.

ualady said...

Got to get Lisa back to her cottage. See y'all in a little bit.

Lisa says she will talk to you Tuesday BRS and good night to you and TK.

Peggy said...

Tk should get at least a cupcake and a small bowl of ice cream.

Anonymous said...

Leo, I think you live somewhat near me if you are 125 miles west of Champaign. I'm in the Quad Cities area.

Anonymous said...

Steve, my daughter and I just looked through some of your picture galleries, and it looked like you have a small fridge inside your truck?

Anonymous said...

TK is gonna get whatever she wants at my house. I usually have plenty toys bought for her to take back on the road. Steve is forever finding a new toy he didn't even know she had in the truck!
Get Steve to tell you about the special toys TK treats like her babies & he isn't allowed to touch them! --Texas Lady (Steve's mom)

Anonymous said...

We also had a good laugh looking through the TK gallery. What a cutie patootie cat! (daughter is 13)

Anonymous said...

Hi Steve's mom! I thought this would be a good way for Steve's family to keep track of him!

BigRigSteve said...

no, no fridge. LOL. what pic do you THINK you see a fridge??

Anonymous said...

Well, I'd have to go back and look. It was a light grey, kind of a Rubbermaid-looking thing, I guess. We thought it was a mini fridge.

Anonymous said...

My folks have a small fridge in their RV, so I thought it was entirely possible that you might have one. Oh well.

mohogan said...

TK scared that dog so bad he's dragging that man away!! lol

ualady said...

Once again I need to thank you BRS. You were able to get Lisa's mind off not getting to go for a home visit this weekend. She was smiling when I left her at the cottage. That was so much better than the expression she had earlier. Your mama did a good job raising you.

BigRigSteve said...

maybe we need to mail out a Steve and TK fanclub picture or something. LOL

BigRigSteve said...

oh heck, I didnt do anything other than answer questions!

ualady said...

Yup...and most adults wouldn't take the time to answer the questions!

mohogan said...

You're a good man Steve. Kids sometimes just need someone to pay attention to them and treat them as equals.

ualady said...

Hmmmm ... seems I remember some interest in a TK Fan Club tshirt a few nights ago. Anybody else remember that?

ualady said...

Amen mphogan. especially when the adults that are suppose to love them hurt them really bad.

BigRigSteve said...

Ya know, I actually looked into getting t shirts with the BRT logo on the back (fullsize) and BigRigTraveks on the front left.....TOP QUALITY t shirts.....but hesitant because doubt there would be outside interest! Guess I could always wear 36 of them over time. LOL

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone. Ualady, this is probably a stupid question, is Lisa a girl you take care of, like a foster child? And Happy Birthday to TK!

ualady said...

well what about TK's picture on it?

BigRigSteve said...

Folks already have the option to make their own TK t shirts, just none have done it yet. LOL

The Duke Of Earl. said...

Thanks for going to the dentist for me! I'm reliving part of my life with you. 40 years of driving. Forgot more than I know. Every place you go is different now.I would think fridge and mic if you got stuck in snow storm or other.

BigRigSteve said...

Yer dentist appt is right after mine there DOE!

well, that is why I have canned food. and sandwich stuff. and an emergency heater, and a snuggle cat. lol

ualady said...

snuggle cat my foot ... you're there to keep her warm!

Anonymous said...

If you do the BRT t'shirts, I would buy one.

BigRigSteve said...

cool:) Actually, I was impressed with the quality of the shirts, and it takes ALOT for me to be impressed. LOL. I don't believe in cheap, run-of-the-mill quality for the website! :)

ualady said...

lol...you let me in here!

BigRigSteve said...

OH! You are far from run of the mill Ualady! All of the BRT Road Crew (hey, sounds like a good logo for the shirts) are nothing but top quality folks! (G)

ualady said...

oh I like that "BRT Road Crew"

Anonymous said...

I'd buy one.

ualady said...

I'm with Hammond...put me down for one...would prefer black

ualady said...

got to match the truck

Anonymous said...

Looks like a carny ride on camera just now.

BigRigSteve said...

LOL. true. I wonder if there is a most common size. I hate to buy 36 M, 36 L, 36 XL, etc. LOL. Wonder if I can mix and match.

pboutwell said...

just make sure you put in a 2x. Some big guys here too.

ualady said...

When I get tshirts to give to drivers, mostly I get XL and above.

BigRigSteve said...

hey there PB!

BigRigSteve said...

the other issue Ihave not yet solved is how folks would buy them. LOL. Ihave the BRT store to buy photos, etc, but how would folks order/buy the special BRT Road Crew shirts?

ualady said...

i'm with pboutwell...some of us ladies need a larger size up top...even though the t shirt flops off our shoulders

pboutwell said...

Hey Steve, TK, and everybody reading.

BigRigSteve said...

perhaps I can put them on my Ebay account?

ualady said...

well...let's see....paypal would work as the mechanism to buy

ualady said...

that might work

BigRigSteve said...

careful ualady...don't want to trigger some funny ads ....LOL the ads work by words we type. LOL

BigRigSteve said...

I suppose those who want one I can handle the way I do donations now.....

pboutwell said...

That ebay may work, my brother n' law has a big deal on there, even I could order one.

Peggy said...

I have gotten shirts for our EMS squad and was able to mix and match sizes. I really think most places would do that. I want one too if you do this.

Anonymous said...

LOL! I think I would have to buy one as well -- being a part of the BRT road crew . . . and yes, it would HAVE to have a picture of TK on it, or a picture of Steve and TK!

BigRigSteve said...

woohoo! Maybe I need to seriously get them going then! Judging by the BRT store sales, LOL, there was not much interest!

I have sold 10 images total. 6 of them was the same image! Kinda humbling. LOL.

Peggy said...

my hubby wants one too so a med and a xl or if you get the larger a 2xl

ualady said...

Ok...then we can all wear our "uniform" to ride along with BRT

pboutwell said...

Plus, you could just print out enough according to orders. Not just print out 500, and still have some left. just a marketing thing.

ualady said...

mercy BRS...think you have started something...

Anonymous said...

Make 'em large sizes; I like to wear them as pajamas. (Big t-shirt and sweat pants -- a real "stylish" sleepwear look LOL!)

Peggy said...

lol thats a good idea

Anonymous said...

Oh dear -- I've been meaning to get my spring photos ordered! Guess I'd better get on that! I've been waiting for you to take pictures of some tulips . . .

BigRigSteve said...

Well, spring is on its way, so I will have a whole new crop of flower images I can assure ya! :)

ualady said...

Peggy...do you know who you ordered the EMS shirts from?

Anonymous said...

According to the local news here,
Spring starts tomorrow at 6:44 a.m. (central time)!

Well I've been tied up with my daughter in Mishawaka, IN she had knee surgery and I'm taking care of her for a few days! OH BOY, DO I EVER NEED THAT CASE OF DUCT TAPE!!

ualady said...

what in the world do you need duct tape for?

Just Vicky said...

For her mouth so she can't whine and belly ache about how bad her leg hurts!

Just Vicky said...

Is it true that BRS & TK will be flying past my house tomorrow on I-74?

Anonymous said...

Ooh, I thought you were going to duct-tape her knee . . .

ualady said...

at least you didn't want to duct tape her to the grill like someone we all know wanted to do to our dear TK

Peggy said...

oh I hear that is a very painful surgery. Hope things get better for her fast.

ualady Did you get the website

ualady said...

Looks that way vicky

ualady said...

Peggy...thanks for the info...

Peggy said...

some one said you would be a very unhappy person when BRS goes by and you would not be home.

Anonymous said...

I had foot surgery on Feb. 3 and have been in the recliner ever since . . . until yesterday when I got the okay to start walking! In a lovely black orthopedic boot, of course LOL!!

Peggy said...

ualady

they do a great job and we thought very reasonably price also. Your welcome and if I can help on this end let me know.

ualady said...

Hey SAHmom...that would match a black BRT tshirt

ualady said...

Hmmmm question here BRS ... will you always be in a black truck?

Anonymous said...

ualady, yep, you are right; I hadn't thought of that! I could be soooo stylin' with my BRT shirt and lovely black space boot!

Just Vicky said...

You got that right! I'm REALLY upset I can't flag BRS down so I can get my hands on TK!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Wow, Just Vicky, are you going to stand by the side of the road and watch for him tomorrow??

ualady said...

If you need to borrow another space boot, let me know. Got one in the closet from when I broke my ankle in two places and foot in one. Would you believe...broke it while teaching school.

Peggy said...

I know how you feel. He went right by our house and all we could do was watch. He was on one of those hurry up and wait loads.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I believe it . . . I used to teach fourth grade! LOL! Was it during recess duty?

One space boot is plenty for me. I walk like a robot.

ualady said...

no was teaching 7th grade math on an emergency certification. fell in the blooming gym. then finished the year first in a wheelchair. don't how many times I was almost dumped out of it by the boys racing me down the hall.

ualady said...

Teaching is a contact sport!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, ualady, that's too bad!

ualady said...

after i graduated to a walker... the boys thought it was a jungle gym that i stored by my desk

Anonymous said...

Time for this mommy to get to bed. I'm taking my two munchkins to the museum tomorrow; I need all the rest I can get!! (they are on spring break this week)
We'll see how well Mom can hobble around the museum in a space boot!

Night, everyone. Steve, you be thinking about those t-shirts . . .

Anonymous said...

ualady, yep, I will be bringing my lovely walker along, just in case!

Good Morning All...

Steve... I was just checking your FAQ's and I notice one set of questions that I asked some time back that you said you would answer. I am sure it just slipped your mind...

Why truck driving? What was your previous career? Also, did your faith play a part in the decision to change your career?

Just Vicky said...

Inquiring minds want to know! LOL

Anonymous said...

yes, i was wondering that too ? have a great day ! Love the sunshine !

Red said...

Steve, we need to hear the story about TK's toys she thinks are here babies and won't let you touch. Sounds like an interesting story.
